GO Caribbean...Pass the word.

We are beginning to have contacts from other states with interest in GO Caribbean. This mission effort is not just for Heritage Hills Baptist Church, but for anyone who feels God is leading them to help us in our mission. I am thankful that our church is underwriting the cost of the Gospels and all full-color printing we will use in the packets that will be placed in homes. Be sure to contact me with your questions.

The first three teams are filled and we need more people who can go with us and be willing to prayerfully consider going back as a Team Leader. This would be a great project for a pastor or other staff member who helps us as Team Leader and then take a group from your church or association. None of us can go every trip and until the IMB places someone on the field who can do that, we must rely on all volunteer help. You might pass this info on to your pastor or DOM in your association. They might be interested in being part of this mission effort.

If you go with us your life will never be the same again. If you have never been on an international mission trip, you whole world view changes and you become more aware of the need for world-wide missions. Don't forget, however, that to go to Barbados is simple an avenue for God to use you in "ends of the earth" missions. We do the Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria missions as well back home.

Trip costs have changed a little. As you know, airfare has increased, so that is going to cost a little more. When I flew to Barbados back in April, the cost was $498 from Atlanta. I checked a couple weeks ago and it had increased about $150. I would think that the higher cost will be with us for some time. However, there will be no cost for lodging for the 9 trips scheduled in 2008. Meal cost should be minimal. We will eat breakfast continental style, lunch at a restaurant and dinner back at the house consisting of something simple like a sandwich. The only other cost will be mandatory IMB insurance for $2.75 per day and any personal items purchased.

I am awaiting word from Chuck, IMB Regional Volunteer Strategist, regarding the use of the IMB van. If we are allowed to use the van, the only cost we will have will be for gasoline. Otherwise, to rent a van will add about $175 per person for the week.

Please be praying for the mission. Our first trips are planned for September. We want to be sure we follow God's will and purpose. Pray for Barbados. Pray that the people will be receptive to us and the power of God will be evident. Pray for pastors and their effectiveness in getting their churches prepared and ready for our coming. We have asked pastors to have a special day on Sunday with a church-wide pot-luck meal and to contact every member and prospect and invite them to be present. It could be a great day as we kick off each Gospel Saturation week in each church. Pray that the Prayer Walk on Sunday afternoon will be effective and the evangelistic movie presentation can be used to reach people for Christ. Also, please pray that pastors will be able to encourage some of their members to team up with us to do Gospel Saturation. It will be a great time of witness as well as fellowship for us as we get to know Bajan Christians.

Pray for revival in Barbados! Blessings!

Peoples Baptist Church joins GO Caribbean!

Peoples Baptist Church has now been scheduled for the week of September 13-20.

Pastor Sam and the church family have invited us to work with them in Gospel Saturation.

It is going to be a great week. They are completing some rennovation work in the worship center and it sure does look nice. They have a very nice facility. Clarence and Marie are the team leaders for the week. They will also show an evangelistic movie in an effort to reach out into the community with the Gospel.

Emmanuel Baptist Church is Scheduled!

I talked with Pastor Wood this morning and we have settled on their church being our first work with GO Caribbean. The dates are September 6-13. The team is set with Thomas and Linda, Billy and Beth, and Charlie and Sandy.

Emmanuel Baptist is the largest Baptist church on the island and Pastor Wood is the only full-time Baptist pastor. We look forward to working with him and the people of his church. It is going to be exciting as we partner to sow the Gospel in their neighborhoods.

We are struggling with the increased cost of airfares and hope this will not deter many people. We have actually got enough interest to man the first three teams.

As you pray for GO Caribbean, if you feel led to be a part of our work, let me know and I can answer your questions.

Pray for revival in Barbados!

The Beginning!

GO Caribbean is a project designed to saturate the Caribbean Islands with prayer and place the Gospel of John and other evangelistic materials in every household. We call it Gospel Saturation or GO Outreach and will begin first on the island of Barbados. It is an effort to help Bajans understand that salvation is in Jesus alone. Our plan is to begin in Barbados with volunteer teams from Heritage Hills Baptist Church and teams from all over the United States to partner with Bajan Baptist Believers. Together, these teams Prayer Walk and go door to door to distribute the Gospel. Following each project, Bible studies will begin in the area so new believers can be mentored and discipled. We will also seek to identify “Men of Peace.” These are individuals who become Christians, or request Bible studies or visits...More
Each team will consist of 6-7 members with one serving as the Team Leader. To become a Team Leader, you must first be part of a team in order to get the training necessary as well as being familiar with the island.
Each Team Leader will be responsible for making all airfare arrangements, travel insurance, and will train all members of the team using the Manual For Go Caribbean Volunteers.
Plans are already in action to have our first 3 GO teams go to Barbados beginning September 6. Each team will arrive Barbados on Saturday and depart the following Saturday.
Pray that God would direct us and that we will follow His plan for GO Caribbean. We are trusting God to fulfill His promise related to the harvest field. There are people out there who are ready to receive the gospel. We are asking that God will use us to draw them to Him.
